Aspiring Storyteller

I’ve always had a passion for storytelling. As a child, I spent my days out on the grass writing the hours away. With age, that passion has stayed with me. However, it’s transcended my love for words and found it’s way into new mediums, most notably photography.

I was 16 when I bought my first camera–a decision that’s only proven to be more significant with time. Now at 21, I dabble in all different breeds of photography: portrait work, self-portraiture, landscape, documentary…each has their own beauty. But as time has gone on, I feel more drawn to the latter. At the center of my work is realism, and to capture life candidly–with all it’s highlights and shadows–is perhaps one of the more beautiful things we can do.

Currently, I’m studying Communications with a focus in Media Arts Production at Millersville University. I spent my freshman year of college at Bloomsburg University, but transferred closer to home with the desire to be closer to family. It’s been a longstanding dream of mine to one day to work for a big publication like Time, or National Geographic as a photojournalist.

In the meantime, I’ve been doing my own projects the past few years in the effort to build up a portfolio (and experience). Most often this means creating photo essays in the attempt to tell a story that calls for a moment of reflection, if not resonation, for my audience. As an artist, and more importantly, a human being, I want to give back something good to this world by any means I can, and thankfully my passion allows me to do that.
